A personal note:
How exciting to gather the mail this morning and discover a package from Leaf Press. Inside, after carefully peeling back tape and wrappings, I found my Oak Leaflet, the 4th in a series of poems published by my Lantzville, Vancouver Island, poetry publisher. The charming little booklet with an oak leaf die cut into it’s rich green cover, contains my poem “Speak in Now.”
These small and mighty works of poetry are, as noted on the last page of my Oak Leaflet, “printed, hand folded and assembled and glued as the sky flared red outside the windows.” Suitably poetic process, I think.
Thank you Leaf Press and Ursula Vaira for believing in my work.
You may purchase my Oak Leaflet at upcoming events.
On down the road,
Reviewing second proofs with Leaf Press Publisher, Ursula Vaira. A gracious and exciting process. Publication and release date to be announced.
“Migrations,” a poem recently published by Contemporary Verse 2, was selected today by Leaf Press as their online Monday Poem feature. Leaf Press is a poetry only publisher, currently also working with Lesley-Anne Evans on an Oak Leaflet publication, to be released sometime this fall.
From the Leaf Press Website: Leaf Press is an independent press located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Ursula Vaira founded Leaf in 2001 as a poetry chapbook publisher. Since 2007 Leaf has been publishing trade poetry while continuing the chapbook tradition and the weekly on-line Monday’s Poem.
