The PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST project has launched with photographer Gianni Vidotto’s photographic session and interview with poet Lesley-Anne Evans. The full interview and photos are published on the Portraits of the Artist blog and on Tumbler.
Portrait of the Artist will create windows through which you may view aspects of the artist. Art is autobiography, and knowing the artist helps us to better appreciate their unique vision.
300 artists from all disciplines (painters, dancers, singers, actors, photographers, etc.) will be invited to participate in a photographic and personal interview experience. Creative portraiture and a short interview inquiring about the person and their art will be conducted.
If you are an artist (writer, painter, dancer, singer, photographer, etc.) and would like to participate in the project you may find information here: www.portaitsoftheartist.tumblr.com/information .
Thanks to some local visionaries with the energy to make it so, there is a new artistic hub in the Okanagan, the Okanagan Art Review. Founder and editor-in-chief Katie Brennan describes OAR as,
The Okanagan Art Review… connects all the isolated pockets of amazing art action and activity that you have to know so-and-so, or be part of such-and-such group to have access to or knowledge of. And does it all through the sharp eye and know how of other artists.
It is a place for celebration, contemplation and connection for artists and art lovers.
Lesley-Anne Evans has always known that being part of a bigger picture gives meaning and purpose to the day and work at hand. Being part of a tribe(s) with similar sensibility, attitude and creative focus these days can be both local and global. Lesley-Anne believes in artistic engagement in both.
Lesley-Anne is pleased to announce her freshly curated membership in the Okanagan Art Review, and her place in this local tribe of creatives with whom she will share her emerging photographic work, and the ripple effect of being part of a vibrant bigger picture.

Lesley-Anne’s poetry and photography to be showcased in ALTARWORK, a new interactive online magazine whose mission is to “put emphasis on both the material and the author to build a community of Christian artists.” ALTARWORK launches this month.
