Portrait of the Artist

The PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST project has launched with photographer Gianni Vidotto’s photographic session and interview with poet Lesley-Anne Evans. The full interview and photos are published here

Portrait of the Artist will create windows through which you may view aspects of the artist. Art is autobiography, and knowing the artist helps us to better appreciate their unique vision.

300 artists from all disciplines (painters, dancers, singers, actors, photographers, etc.) will be invited to participate in a photographic and personal interview experience. Creative portraiture and a short interview inquiring about the person and their art will be conducted.

If you are an artist (writer, painter, dancer, singer, photographer, etc.) and would like to participate in the project you may find information here: www.portaitsoftheartist.tumblr.com/information .

“Setting the streets on fire”

Pop up poem 1“Knowing Lesley-Anne is out there, setting the streets on fire with her well-crafted words, just makes me… happy…”

On her The Good (New) Life blog, Deborah Lampitt-McConnachie describes her personal experience with finding Pop-Up-Poetry on her way home from work:

Scene: finishing work and heading to the parking lot past the Bean Scene Coffee Shop on Dickson Ave. Out of the corner of my eye I catch sight of a piece of paper fluttering in the breeze.  Closer examination shows said piece of paper clipped onto the waving decorative grasses planted alongside the sidewalk. Even closer examination reveals… a poem. A good poem.

You can read the full article HERE on The Good (New) Life, wherein Deborah enquires, “Can someone in Kelowna, BC find the ultra-urban life they’ve been accustomed to, 7415 kilometers from London, UK?” It appears Deborah Lampitt-McConnachie thinks they can! Deborah is living proof!

Deborah describes her enviable life story this way,

Deborah was a fashion and lifestyle journalist in London, UK, for over 15 years.

Her career highlight is a toss up between interviewing Cate Blanchett backstage after the Nicole Farhi show in London, or Karl Lagerfeld at the Chanel haute couture presentation in Paris. Meeting Debbie Harry was pretty cool too.

Deborah recently relocated to Kelowna, BC, with her husband, whoodle and cat, where she is a fashion and advertising consultant for Icon magazine. She LOVES the Okanagan, and thinks you should too.

It appears that Pop-Up-Poetry is contributing to ultra-urban life experiences of some very hip and talented people here in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. (more about PUP HERE)

Welcome, Deborah Lampitt-McConnachie, welcome.
